Four Tips To Help You Buy A Lawnmower
It’s a chore that many people tend to hate. It’s called mowing the lawn. If you have a mower that is out of date, this chore is even more tedious.
To make the job easiest on you, there are four tips to consider.
- First, think about how much you have to mow. How big is your yard? If you have a yard with a half an acre or less, then a 20 to 22 inch mower will suffice. However, if you have half to three-quarters of an acre yard, then you’re going to need to go with a 21 to 22 inch mower with some horsepower behind it. Anything more than three-quarters, your best bet is a lawn mower you ride upon instead of push.
- Second, if you have a yard that is hilly, then make sure to get a mower that is self-propelled and has high wheels. If not, you’re going to have a difficult time getting up them hills.
- Third, should your property have plenty of trees then you’re going to want a mower that has a bag on its rear. This helps to keep the lawn looking nice and neat.
- Fourth, if you have money to spend on a good mower, take a glance at some of the extra features that you can get that can make this chore go smoother. The four features are:
Mulcher - This will cut grass clippings, allowing you to use them as fertilizer instead of raking and bagging them up.
Rear Bag - No need to rake if you have a rear bag. This helps to keep your lawn looking nice and is much easier to maneuver than the mulcher.
Side Discharge - Deals with grass clippings but spits them back out onto the lawn. You will have to rake to make the lawn look nice.
Convertible - This is the type of mower that can be alternated from feature to feature: mulcher, side discharge and rear bag. This gives you the option to do what you will with the grass clippings.
When you start shopping, some mowers will already be assembled; others will need to be put together. If you want an already assembled mower, you may pay a bit more for the convenience.
You will need to choose your engine while you are out shopping too. Make sure to check which is the right one for you as there are pros and cons to each one. Once you have all this information, you are ready to buy your mower and get that yard looking nice. In the end, mowing won’t seem like such a chore.
